The outcomes of Kazakhstan’s chairmanship
in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) were summarized in the
Russian capital. Mazhilis Speaker Yerlan Koshanov noted that during this period,
the CSTO deepened its cooperation with interested countries and international
organizations. Contacts with CIS and SCO member states continued to develop. This
year also marks the 20th anniversary of the CSTO’s observer status at the UN
General Assembly.
«Thanks to coordinated cooperation with
partners, all tasks set for the CSTO during Kazakhstan’s chairmanship have been
completed. At the meeting in Astana, the presidents of our countries commended
the events held during the country’s chairmanship and adopted important
documents aimed at further developing the CSTO. I am convinced that through
close coordination and mutual consideration of interests, we will continue our
joint course towards the consistent development and strengthening of the CSTO’s
parliamentary dimension,» noted Yerlan Koshanov, Chairperson of the Mazhilis, the
Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament.
