Kazakh, Tajik Presidents ink Treaty on Allied Relations

In Dushanbe, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon signed the Treaty on Allied Relations between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. The historic document will elevate bilateral cooperation to a new level, the heads of state emphasized. It will also promote stability across the Central Asian region. Besides, during President Tokayev’s state visit, 15 memorandums were signed. Currently, the two countries have significant potential for expanding mutual trade, with Astana ready to export 85 types of products worth $200 million to Tajikistan.

«To strengthen economic cooperation, the governments have been instructed to expedite the signing of a Roadmap for increasing trade turnover between the two countries by 2027. We intend to increase mutual trade to $2 billion in the future. There is a significant potential for increasing bilateral trade in the agro-industrial sector. In the first six months of this year, agricultural product exports between our countries grew by 12 percent, totaling nearly $300 million,» said President Tokayev.


In addition to agriculture, large-scale projects in industry, transportation, energy, and digitalization are now being developed. The heads of state also discussed enhancing cultural and humanitarian ties, which serves as another connection between the peoples.


«In the region, Kazakhstan provides the largest number of educational grants to students from Tajikistan. We have agreed that cooperation in the field of education will be expanded. We will seek additional opportunities for training specialists from Tajikistan, including military-technical experts, which I believe is very important. We also welcomed the opening of a joint IT faculty between Gumilyov Eurasian National University and Osimi Tajik Technical University,» added the Head of State.


Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Emomali Rahmon attended a gala concert marking the opening of the Days of Kazakh Culture in Tajikistan. The event featured performances by creative groups and renowned artists from both countries.
