Kazakhstan showcased the
Alatau City project —
a new innovative urban development — at a roadshow in South Korea. The project
was presented to potential investors and partners by Deputy Prime Minister
Kanat Bozumbayev, who outlined the prospects of the future hub for technology
companies and export-oriented industries. The new city will be located at the
intersection of key transport routes in the Almaty region, covering 88,000
hectares. The entire area will be designated a special economic zone, offering
tax incentives and other benefits for businesses.
By presidential decree, Alatau City has been
officially designated as a city of advanced development, and a government
council has been established to oversee its management. During the forum,
Kazakhstan and South Korea signed memorandums of understanding in the fields of
energy, transport, education, and sustainable development. These included
agreements with the Global Green Growth Institute, the Korea Airports
Corporation, and KAIST. Both sides noted the positive momentum in bilateral
cooperation. Last year, South Korea ranked among Kazakhstan’s top 10 trading
partners and placed third in terms of investment volume. The participants
expressed their commitment to further developing joint initiatives and
deepening economic partnership.
