Kazakhstan is a global leader in STEM education. The country’s schoolchildren have become four-time world champions in robotics, winning the FIRST Global Challenge 2025 in Panama City. Previously, the national team claimed gold in Geneva (2022), Singapore (2023), and Greece (2024). This victory sets a new historic record, unmatched in the FGC to date. This year’s championship focused on ecology, and the robot developed by the Kazakh team is designed to effectively tackle tasks related to ecosystem and biodiversity restoration.
«The goal of the game was to maintain balance between the three towers, or ecosystems. The robots had to collect data balls and deliver them to the corresponding ecosystems. This fairly simple concept allowed us to stand out from other countries. Our robot may be simple, but it proved highly effective, and most importantly, it never broke down,» said Alimzhan Zhandildauly, student at Almaty’s Nazarbayev Intellectual School.
