Kazakhstan, Portugal develop inter-parliamentary relations

Kazakhstan is set to develop inter-parliamentary relations with Portugal. During his visit to the country, Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev discussed the prospects for cooperation in this area and the objectives for joint work in the coming year with José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, President of the Assembly of the Republic of Portugal. Ashimbayev highlighted Kazakhstan’s interest in Portugal’s experience in providing legal support for socio-economic development and parliamentary oversight. In turn, Aguiar-Branco expressed interest in developing multilateral relations and emphasized the effectiveness of political transformation in Kazakhstan. The meeting also addressed the expansion of trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation. In particular, proposals were made for joint projects in the fields of green economy, infrastructure, transport and logistics, agriculture, and scientific and technological activities. It is also worth noting that during the visit to Portugal, members of the Kazakh delegation will participate in the Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations.
