$200 million in agreements signed at Kazakhstan-Pakistan Business Forum

Over 30 commercial agreements worth $200 million were signed following the Kazakhstan-Pakistan Business Forum. The forum was attended by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The agreements aim to expand cooperation in finance, logistics, industry, energy, and infrastructure. In addition, business ties between the two countries will be strengthened through the Kazakhstan-Pakistan Intergovernmental Commission.

«Our economic strategy is centered or focused on diversifying trade and investment, stimulating innovation and advancing a knowledge-based development model. The Foreign Investment Council, which I chair personally, reflects our strong commitment to transparency, fairness, and a continuous enhancement of Kazakhstan’s business climate. The national digital investment platform operating on a one-stop-shop principle will further simplify processes for both investors and businesses,» Tokayev noted.

Kazakhstan and Pakistan occupy a strategically important geographical position - both countries serve as key links in regional and global transport routes, making cooperation in this area mutually beneficial, the Head of State emphasized.

«I welcome the signing of agreements between our national railway operator Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and KazPost and Pakistan’s national logistic corporation and Pakistan Post. We look forward to the next concrete steps to advance multimodal transport solutions and expand mutual access to port infrastructure in both our countries,» Tokayev added.

Today, Kazakhstan exports more than 200 types of agricultural products to 70 countries. The country is ready to expand both the geography of supplies and the range of products exported. One of these could be the output of a new sugar beet processing plant. An agreement to launch production was signed with a Pakistani company. President Tokayev also invited Pakistani investment and IT companies to partner. In turn, Shehbaz Sharif spoke about the parties’ agreement to establish a working group to develop a five-year trade and investment cooperation program. Notably, the Head of State invited Pakistan’s Prime Minister to pay a state visit to Kazakhstan this year.
