Kazakhstan and Vatican deepen cooperation

Kazakhstan and the Vatican intend to strengthen cooperation. The parties concluded an agreement as part of Pope Francis` visit to the country. The document was signed by Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi and Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Holy See’s Secretary for Relations with States. The parties emphasized the special importance of promoting interfaith and interreligious dialogue, which is one of the key missions of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

“The original document was signed in 1998. This agreement expands the provisions concluded 24 years ago and provides a more stable basis for the work of the Catholic Church in Kazakhstan,” said Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Roman Vassilenko.
