Kazakhstan heads Union of Turkic Chambers of Commerce and Industry

Kazakhstan has, for the first time, assumed the chairmanship of the Union of Turkic Chambers of Commerce and Industry (TCCI). The announcement was made during the third meeting of the Organization’s General Assembly in Astana. Founded in 2019, the Union brings together Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Hungary. Today, the Turkic economic space encompasses over 180 million people and has significant industrial and resource potential. The Union’s mission is to promote industrial cooperation and joint projects, as well as to improve international routes and transport corridors using the instruments of the Turkic Investment Fund.

«The Fund has already begun operating this year, and I believe this is one of the major initiatives. One of the proposals we put forward to the Turkic Fund, which we expect to start implementing this year, is to increase traffic in the Caspian Sea. This is very important for strengthening cooperation among the Turkic countries, as cargo traffic across the Caspian Sea is already very high,» said Vugar Zeynalov, Vice President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs Organizations of Azerbaijan.

Kazakhstan’s trade and economic relations with the countries of the Turkic world demonstrate steady growth. Mutual trade turnover exceeded $11 billion in the first 10 months of last year, marking an increase of more than 10%. At the same time, Kazakhstan’s exports grew by nearly 17%, approaching $8 billion. The country’s experience in optimizing logistics and increasing transport efficiency is expected to contribute to the development of cooperation within the Union.

«There are transport and logistics issues that require investment, as well as certain bottlenecks related to railway and sea crossings and insufficient transport capacity - that is the first point. Second, there are certain procedures that require harmonization; we are now talking about the digitalization of these procedures, and Kazakhstan is setting a good example in this regard,» said Raimbek Batalov, Chairman of the Presidium of Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs.
