Kazakhstan and Georgia are set
to boost cargo transportation volumes through the Middle Corridor to 10 million
tonnes. Last year, the figure grew by 65 percent. In the first eight months of 2024,
it increased by 70 percent, reaching nearly three million tonnes. The parties
plan to work on the corridor digitalization, which will enhance its
attractiveness for foreign partners. Notably, Georgia has established itself as
an important and reliable investment partner for Kazakhstan in the South
Caucasus. In the first quarter of this year alone, Georgian investors directed US$88.5
million in Kazakhstan’s economy, while the total investment over the past
decade exceeded US$500 million. Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and
Georgian First Vice Prime Minister Levan Davitashvili discussed the prospects
for trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. They also
addressed strengthening collaboration in agriculture, energy, tourism,
aviation, as well as logistics and transportation. The parties reaffirmed their
commitment to continue working towards the dynamic development of mutual trade
and economic partnership.
