An exhibition
titled «The Spirit of Nomads: Boundless Horizons» has launched in Astana
featuring unique images of majestic landscapes as well as ancient traditions
and customs that immerse viewers in the world of nomads captured by renowned
Kazakh and international photo and video travelers. The authentic atmosphere is
further enhanced by installations that display the interior of a Kazakh yurt,
adorned with felt and wool products. These items represent a true blend of
ancient crafts and modern technology. Kamilya Suleimenova is an artisan, who
has been crafting such products with high demand for five years.
«The spiral symbolizes cyclicality, forward movement, and
it’s no coincidence that
this composition is made of felt. Felt played a significant role in the life of
nomads. When a child was born, he was wrapped in felt. Throughout their life,
it was an important item, providing shelter, warmth, and comfort. The spiral of
life represents the connection between generations, linking our ancestors with
future generations,» said Suleimenova.
The exhibition exploring the daily life and
ancient cultural traditions of the Great Steppe is held as part of the fifth World Nomad Games. It will be open for residents and visitors
of Astana until the end of
September.
«This exhibition featuring Kazakh artists unveils the
nomadic life and nomadism in general. We aimed to draw the attention of
domestic and international experts to the World Nomad Games and the unique
aspects of nomadic culture and civilization,» said Alisher
Tursyn, Kazakh Tourism official representative.
