Kazakhstan, France expand museum cooperation

Kazakhstan and France are expanding cooperation in the museum sector. In the near future, Kazakh specialists will undergo internships at leading French cultural centers. This became known in Almaty, where a delegation of foreign experts arrived ahead of the second French-Kazakh museum forum. The guests familiarized themselves with the work of local art venues and discussed the exchange of experience in various areas, from the intricacies of restoration and digitalization to the introduction of modern management standards.

«Our main task is personnel training and the comprehensive modernization of museums, from museography to scenography. This covers all aspects that help galleries remain modern and cope with large visitor flows, including both adapting texts for foreign guests and developing effective strategies to attract tourists,» noted the representative of France Muséums Albert Naïm‏.

«Two years ago, a large-scale exhibition dedicated to Kazakhstan’s historical heritage was held with great success at the National Museum of Asian Arts in France. Today, we continue to build on that success. Our partnership will cover several key areas, from promoting Kazakhstan’s cultural sites on the global stage to organizing exhibitions and ensuring an ongoing exchange of expertise between specialists from both countries,» said Sébastien de Courtois, Cooperation and Cultural Affairs Advisor at the French Embassy in Kazakhstan.
