The Kazakh Tazy has
been preliminarily recognized as an official dog breed. This decision made by
the General Committee of the International Canine Federation (FCI) is a key and
final step before full recognition at the international level. Additionally,
Kazakhstan has been granted the status of the breed’s standard holder. During
the upcoming ten years, it is necessary to conduct additional health tests and
collect all data on the breed. To this end, Kazakhstan’s Union of Cynologists
met all FCI requirements, including conducting extensive genetic and medical
research on the breed.
«The international
scientific commission overseeing these matters has confirmed that Kazakh Tazy
dogs are a unique and independent breed. Thus, other countries and their canine
organizations will not be able to claim this breed as their own because it is
now officially recognized as the Kazakh dog breed. This represents an important
milestone and a remarkable achievement for us,» said Bauyrzhan Serikkali,
President of the Kazakh Union of Cynologists.
Since 2022, following the instruction of
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, efforts have been underway to preserve Kazakh
dog breeds and gain international recognition for them. This has included
legislative revisions, approval of the Tazy standard, and conducting research,
inspections, and breed shows.
