Kazakhstan assumes TURKPA chairmanship

The chairmanship of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) has passed from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan. Ramil Hasanov was elected Secretary General of the organization. His candidacy was unanimously supported at the Council meeting held in the Kazakh capital. The Astana Declaration was also adopted, and future plans were outlined.

«Over the coming year, our key priority will be to strengthen cooperation in all areas, enhance the organization’s international standing, and deepen the unity of the Turkic states. In addition, special attention will be given to expanding cooperation among the TURKPA member states,» said Yerlan Koshanov, the chairman of the Mazhilis, a lower house of the Kazakh Parliament.

Notably, mutual trade between the countries reached $42 billion last year, while the total volume of foreign trade exceeded $1 trillion. These figures indicate the strengthening economic ties among the Turkic states.
