Kazakh President holds meeting with Speakers of Parliament of TURKPA states

Today, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with the Speakers of Parliament of the Parliamentary Assemblies of the Turkic States (TURKPA) member states, highlighting the special significance of the gathering. According to the President, the Parliamentary Assembly is a very important political structure. Thanks to the joint efforts of the Assembly, Turkic solidarity has been strengthening year by year, contributing to the growing international authority and influence. The Head of State emphasized that Kazakhstan supports the initiatives of the Parliamentary Assembly and stands ready to contribute to Turkic integration.

«Kazakhstan is one of the founding members of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). We believe that this organization plays a significant role in the economic, cultural, and humanitarian development of our countries. In our view, its potential should be harnessed to achieve the common goals of our peoples. Last year, Kazakhstan chaired the OTS. Under the motto «TURKTIME,» we implemented a number of important projects, organizing around 100 events that provided new momentum for deepening Turkic integration. The 5th World Nomad Games took place in Astana, showcasing the civilization of the Great Steppe to a global audience. The adoption of a unified version of the Turkic alphabet marked a historic milestone,» Tokayev said.

The Head of State reminded that Permanent Representatives will be appointed to the OTS. He also noted that ties between the member countries have expanded in trade, economy, energy, finance, and investment sectors.

«The Turkic Investment Fund is functioning effectively. All these important steps will strengthen Turkic integration. We highly value the outcomes of the OTS summits and attach great importance to the effective implementation of the agreements reached. The recent informal meeting of the heads of state in Hungary was productive. Kazakhstan remains firmly committed to continuing this positive trend. In this regard, I have proposed holding the next summit in the sacred city of Turkistan,» Tokayev added.

The Head of State highlighted the comprehensive political and socio-economic reforms implemented in the country over the past few years. He named the ultimate goal as building a Just Kazakhstan, based on the principle of ‘Law and Order.’ President Tokayev also expressed his support for the initiative to hold the TurkPA session in Astana, which is taking place today under the title ‘TURKTIME: The Role of Parliamentary Diplomacy.’ The President emphasized that strengthening cooperation is especially important in the face of current challenges.
