Central Asian states
and China have agreed to broaden their route network and launch new flights
between their capitals and major cities, as well as increase flight
frequencies. The agreements were reached by representatives of the parties during
the second Central Asia–China civil aviation cooperation working group
conference, held in Astana. The event brought together heads of aviation
authorities, as well as representatives of airlines, airports, and air
navigation services.
«We aim to fully
develop cargo air transportation in Kazakhstan by establishing major air hubs
on our territory. I believe this conference will strengthen and enhance our
position in the region and help place us more prominently on the global
aviation map,» said Saltanat Tompiyeva, Chairperson of the Civil Aviation
Committee at the Kazakh Ministry of Transport.
Currently, more than
150 flights a week connect China with the capitals of Central Asian states –
double last year’s figure. The parties plan to further expand air links,
simplify customs procedures, and share expertise.
«A memorandum will be
signed with our Chinese colleagues to increase flight frequencies between our
countries. Currently, flights are operated to four cities – Beijing, Xi’an,
Chengdu, and Urumqi. By signing this memorandum, we hope to see more flights
between our nations in the near future,» noted Kanat Tologonov, Deputy Director
of the State Civil Aviation Agency under the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers.
