As part of his visit to Washington, President
Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev held a series of meetings. The Head of
State
exchanged views with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and representatives of
President Donald Trump’s Administration on key aspects of
the bilateral and regional agenda. President Tokayev emphasized
that Kazakhstan stands ready to pursue a constructive dialogue to deepen multifaceted
cooperation.
In
addition, the Head of State met with the founders of domestic IT
startups entering international markets. There are more than 20 of them, with a
combined valuation of $1.4 billion. This confirms the innovative potential of
the national IT ecosystem.
Afterward,
the President met with members of the U.S. Congress. He noted the important role of the U.S. Congress in
strengthening friendly relations with Kazakhstan and expressed his gratitude to the parliamentarians for
their personal contribution to promoting the enhanced strategic partnership
between the two countries.
At a
meeting with Chairman and CEO of Chevron Corporation Michael Wirth, the Head of
State reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s readiness to continue mutually beneficial
cooperation in the areas of extraction,
processing, and transportation of raw materials.
President Tokayev expressed his gratitude to U.S.
Senator Steve Daines for the Congressional Record of the U.S. Congress
dedicated to Kazakhstan’s Republic Day. The President noted that this reflects
the long-standing strategic partnership between the two countries.
The Head of State held a meeting with Csaba Lejko, President for CIS and Central Asia at John Deere. President Tokayev supported John Deere’s decision to localize the production of agricultural machinery. The signed strategic partnership agreement worth $2.5 billion provides for the production of at least 3,000 units of agricultural machinery over five years. It also envisions the establishment of service centers and personnel training.
Kazakh President gave interviews to major U.S. publications - The Washington Post and The New York Times. The Head of State answered questions concerning Kazakh-U.S. relations, certain aspects of his
visit, President Donald Trump’s political course, geopolitics, the situation
around Ukraine, and other topics.
