Kazakhstan is introducing a ban on allocating
state budget funds to foreign athletes. Instead, funding will be directed
toward supporting local athletes and developing priority sports. Overall, the
policy in this area has now been reoriented toward achieving results at the
Olympic, Paralympic, Deaflympic, Asian, and Asian Para Games. The Senate, the
Upper House of the Kazakh Parliament, has approved amendments to the law on the
development of sports and physical culture, introducing 11 new provisions. Thus,
the national organization of sports medicine and rehabilitation will receive a separate
article in the law, strengthening its role in athlete preparation and recovery.
Additionally, the status of national and regional sports federations will be
upgraded to national level, enhancing their role in the sector’s development.
«The law reviewed today represents a
significant step toward improving the management of the sports sector. It
includes provisions aimed at ensuring the effective use of budget funds
allocated for sports development. We believe that this approved law will
promote a healthy lifestyle, encourage citizens - especially children - to
participate in mass sport, and inspire them to strive for high athletic
achievements,» noted Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairperson of the Senate, the Upper
House of the Kazakh Parliament.
