Another national team of
Kazakhstan is undergoing intensive preparation for the fifth World Nomad Games.
The training camp for kusbegilik - the art of hunting with birds of prey - is unfolded
in Shchuchinsk city. Nine athletes are now training here with golden eagles,
falcons, and hawks. The next training sessions are scheduled for the end of
August in Astana. The main competitions with hunting birds will be held at the
Ethnoaul near the capital’s Kazanat hippodrome on September 12-13.
«We are actively preparing for the upcoming fifth
World Nomad Games, utilizing all our skills, expertise, and resources. We will
face strong competitors from Europe, Mongolia, the Kyrgyz Republic, and Türkiye,
who are also well-prepared,» said Ibrahim Bazarbayev, member of Kazakhstan’s
national kusbegilik team.
«Throughout the summer, our birds were
undergoing molting. We are now training them and working on their speed. We are
preparing three golden eagles, three falcons, and three hawks for the upcoming
competition in three categories. I will be participating with a golden eagle
named Algyr,» said Serikbek Kuntuganuly, member of Kazakhstan’s national
kusbegilik team.
