Kazakh President’s article published in Rossiyskaya Gazeta

Rossiyskaya Gazeta has published an article by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev titled Eternal friendship is a guiding star for our peoples. The central theme of the article is the relationship between the two countries, built on shared values, culture, and mutual respect. According to the Head of State, the strategic partnership and alliance between Kazakhstan and Russia are crucial factors in establishing a system of Eurasian security. Currently, relations between the two countries are moving to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance. The President noted that during his visit to Moscow, the signing of the corresponding Declaration would be a key item on the agenda. Strong economic ties also connect the two countries. Bilateral trade is growing and approaching $30 billion. Among the main priorities for further cooperation, President Tokayev highlighted transport and logistics. The energy sector also holds a special place: the two states are cooperating in the construction and modernization of energy facilities, including the construction of Kazakhstan’s first nuclear power plant with the participation of Rosatom. President Tokayev also emphasized the importance of cooperation between the regions of the two countries. According to him, the annual Kazakhstan-Russia Interregional Cooperation Forum makes a significant contribution to developing the full range of ‘horizontal’ ties. Experts note that about half of bilateral trade, currently $17 billion, is accounted for by interregional trade.

«Cross-border cooperation plays a key role in our bilateral relations - both in cargo transit and in overall trade. Bringing regional and border infrastructure up to the required standard, addressing various obstacles, including administrative barriers, and fostering cooperation in humanitarian areas - all of these remain high on the agenda. This work needs to be carried out on a daily basis,»  noted Zhumabek Sarabekov, expert of the Institute of World Economy and Politics.
