Uzbekistan develops green energy

Major green energy projects are being implemented in Uzbekistan. Over the past year alone, the Namangan region has developed renewable energy capacities equivalent to nearly 60% of the region’s total annual energy consumption. One of them is the first stage of the Naryn Hydropower Cascade, located along the river of the same name. The project is valued at over $428 million and has a capacity of 228 megawatts. For the first time in the country, horizontal capsule hydroelectric units have been introduced at the new energy facility. They maintain high efficiency even at low water pressure. The project is capable of supplying green energy to more than 450,000 households, allowing the country to save around 290 million cubic meters of natural gas annually. In total, six stations are planned to be built.

«The project was completed to a high standard within a short timeframe: a water intake structure, spillway facilities, as well as inlet and outlet canals were built. All activities were carried out in accordance with the agreed plan. More than 1,200 specialists were involved in the construction and installation efforts. Meanwhile, construction and installation work is ongoing at the second and third hydropower plants,» said specialist Zhaloliddin Khushvakhtov.
