On the sidelines of
the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on
Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Baku, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a
meeting with the Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The parties
discussed strengthening trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian
ties, as well as the importance of diversifying mutual trade. The Head of State
emphasized that Athens is among the top five largest trading partners of Astana
within the European Union.
The President of North
Macedonia Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova expressed her gratitude to Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev for his contribution to bilateral relations. She also commended Kazakhstan’s
role on the international stage as a middle power. The parties paid special
attention to the prospects for deepening cooperation in trade, economic, and
investment spheres, as well as simplifying the visa regime for citizens of both
countries. An agreement was also reached on developing contacts between the
business communities of Kazakhstan and North Macedonia.
President Tokayev
discussed the implementation of joint investment projects in the energy sector
with the Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković. The Head of State expressed
support for Croatian companies operating in Kazakhstan and invited Andrej
Plenković to participate in the second Astana International Forum slated for next
year. The Croatian Prime Minister also invited President Tokayev to visit the
country.
