«Kazakhstan
is a privileged partner and a conductor of dialogue between cultures,
religions, and civilizations.» This was stated by UN Secretary-General António
Guterres during a meeting with Kazakh Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu. He also noted
that Kazakhstan is a fundamental pillar of Central Asia and a bridge between
East and West, and expressed his gratitude to the country for its continued
support to UN initiatives. Additionally, the Secretary-General commended the country’s
contribution to strengthening peace and security and ensuring human rights. In
turn, Murat Nurtleu touched upon Kazakhstan's foreign policy priorities, the
initiative to establish a UN Regional Center for Sustainable Development in
Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty, as well as socio-economic and political
reforms carried out in the country. Notably, the meeting was held as part of the
79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
