Kazakh President chairs Security Council meeting on cybersecurity

Kazakhstan is set to tighten liability for personal data leaks. Cybersecurity issues were discussed today at a meeting of the Security Council chaired by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The Head of State recalled that in his recent state-of-the-nation address, he set the goal of transforming Kazakhstan into a full-fledged digital nation - a task that requires comprehensive measures. He stressed the need to counter all types of cyber threats, including online fraud, while strengthening the protection of critical information infrastructure and improving specialist training. Following the meeting, President Tokayev gave instructions to address systemic cybersecurity issues and to step up public awareness on safe online practices.
