Kazakhstan is set to
tighten liability for personal data leaks. Cybersecurity issues were discussed
today at a meeting of the Security Council chaired by President Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev. The Head of State recalled that in his recent state-of-the-nation address,
he set the goal of transforming Kazakhstan into a full-fledged digital nation -
a task that requires comprehensive measures. He stressed the need to counter
all types of cyber threats, including online fraud, while strengthening the
protection of critical information infrastructure and improving specialist
training. Following the meeting, President Tokayev gave instructions to address
systemic cybersecurity issues and to step up public awareness on safe online
practices.
