Kazakh athletes win two more silver medals at Paris Olympics

Kazakh athletes have won two more silver medals at the Summer Olympics in Paris.

Greco-Roman wrestler Demeu Zhadrayev reached the finals in the 77-kilogram weight category and faced Japanese wrestler Nao Kusaka in the decisive bout. The victory went to the Japanese athlete.

Kazakh boxer Nurbek Oralbay has also secured a silver medal in the 80-kilogram weight category. In the final, he faced Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Khyzhniak, who won the first round. Oralbay claimed victory in the second, but the final bout was decided by a split decision in favor of Khyzhniak.

«Id like to express my gratitude to all Kazakh people for their support! We were hoping for the gold medal, and I believe that both of our athletes will showcase their best at the next Olympic Games», - said Oralbay’s mother Gulnar Tileukulova.

Kazakhstan now has seven medals, including one gold, three silver, and three bronze. Today, Kazakh athletes will compete in five sports: rhythmic gymnastics, canoe and kayak races, modern pentathlon, freestyle wrestling, and sport climbing.
