Kazakh athletes have secured 50
licenses for the 2024 Olympics in Paris. The participants in the main sports
event held every four years will be announced in judo, wrestling, and boxing in
more than 40 world and continental championships. Domestic athletes won 18 licenses
in April, with plans to get 20 more in May. Olympic qualification in other
sports will continue in June. Overall, at least 90 licenses are expected to be
obtained, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports notes. Recently, the MPs were informed
on the progress of the National Team’s preparation for the Olympic Games.
“We have high hopes, especially for securing gold
medals. We expect that our boxers and wrestlers will receive the most
awards. We have very little time left, which needs to be used effectively,
dedicating special attention to preparation both psychologically and medically,”
said Ardak Nazarov, Member of the Mazhilis, the Lower House of the Kazakh
Parliament.
It is worth recalling that the Olympics will
take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11. Over 10,000 athletes from
around the world will compete in 32 sports disciplines.
