At the third session of the
National Kurultai in the city of Atyrau, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev
stressed the importance of fully grasping the scale of the national history along
with preserving and promoting the Kazakh cultural heritage to move forward with
confidence.
“Kazakhstan is a direct successor
of the nomadic civilization of the Great Steppe. Recognized as the pinnacle of
state building across the vast expanses of Central Eurasia has always been the
Zhoshy Ulus, globally known as the Golden Horde. The geopolitical legacy of
this medieval state has provided fertile ground for the emergence of a number
of Eurasian states, including the Kazakh Khanate,” said the Head of State.
As noted by President Tokayev, the National Kurultai has always served as a platform for finding solutions to relevant for all Kazakh citizens issues. The Head of State highlighted that positive changes are evident in various spheres and directions. Nevertheless, he called for the search for new economic growth points, emphasizing the need for projects that will have a major multiplier effect. A powerful impetus will be provided by the consistent development of transit corridors passing through Kazakhstan. In addition, logistic centers and warehouse facilities will be built to comprehensively boost foreign trade turnover. Moreover, the President stressed the importance of expanding railway construction, strengthening maritime transport infrastructure, and implementing a flexible tariff policy.
“To ensure sustained economic
growth, it is important to leverage all our competitive advantages. Decisive
steps are to be taken to turn Kazakhstan into one of the key transit hubs of
Eurasia. We have recently launched a transport and logistics center in the city
of Xi’an. This promising Kazakh-Chinese project was implemented as part of the
global Belt and Road Initiative. This week, the first container train has arrived
in Azerbaijan from Xi’an. The new logistics center will significantly increase
freight traffic along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route,” added
the Head of State.
President Tokayev reiterated the
importance of traditional family values and enhancing the secular nature of the
state. According to him, the Kazakh people have always overcome the most severe
trials thanks to unity and solidarity. Nowadays, these fundamental values
take on special significance amidst new unprecedented challenges. The Head of
State also touched on strengthening national identity, preserving historical
landmarks, and demand for the Kazakh language, now widely used in business,
technology, and science. Besides, he spoke about the celebration of the 80th
anniversary of Great Victory and renaming the air base. The President
emphasized the importance to honor the memory of the compatriots who
demonstrated unparalleled feats of arms and labor during the war. At the end of
the speech, he announced that the next kurultai will be held in the city of Kokshetau.
