The IV international competition of composers ‘New Music Generation 2022’ is taking place in Astana. Over one hundred music composers under 35 in three age groups from 40 countries are participating in the contest. They represent Germany, Italy, France, the US, China, and Japan. In total, the jury received about 300 musical scores. One of the features of this creative competition is that the jury members do not know the authors of the submitted works as they are encrypted with passwords. The names of the winners will be revealed to them as soon as the selection process is over. The contest organizers say that this approach ensures impartiality and objectivity. It bears noting that the competition will run until October 7.
“I am so happy to be here, to be a member of the jury in our international composition prize. First of all, I am so happy to see such a number of young people here, that means that contemporary music is in the world here. Second thing about the prize, I must say that I have never seen a prize with 300 scores. So, the enormous number of scores was so difficult for us to see,” shared Alessandro Solbiati, jury member from Italy.
