The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, by virtue of its universal mandate and mutual consolidation, can and should make a significant contribution to solving the most acute issues of our time. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated this at the meeting of the Council of Heads of the SCO member states in Samarkand. He thanked the host country for the hospitality and the high level of organization. The Head of State also shared his vision of the SCO’s priority areas at the current stage. The meeting was also attended by presidents of Uzbekistan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan, as well as prime ministers of India and Pakistan.
