Kazakhstan to expand participation in UN peacekeeping missions

Kazakh Defense Minister Ruslan Zhaksylykov put forward an initiative to use the potential of Kazakhstan’s Armed Forces for strategic deployment for the needs of UN peacekeeping operations at the organization’s ministerial conference in Berlin. He also proposed to consider the need to develop relevant long-term agreements with countries that have capabilities in the aviation, naval, and land areas. Zhaksylykov emphasized that today Kazakhstan can carry out a full cycle of peacekeeper training through its Center for Peacekeeping Operations and other military educational institutions. At the meeting, the parties exchanged views and shared experience in protecting civilians and ensuring peacekeeper safety. Notably, for the first time in the event’s history, a report was delivered in Kazakh alongside the official languages of the UN.
