The transport and logistics capacity of the Mangystau region needs to be enhanced, stated Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at a meeting with local residents. According to him, Mangystau's favorable geographical location enables the region to become a transit hub of global importance. Given the current situation in world markets, further development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route is of particular importance. The Head of State stressed that oil shipments through Aktau and Kuryk should be increased to 20 million tonnes.
“The port city of Aktau is rightly considered the sea gate of Kazakhstan. Amid the realignment of global supply chains, the role of the Caspian Sea has increased sharply. We plan to implement a number of measures aimed at attracting investment in the port infrastructure development and the creation of a container, as well as a transport and logistics hub. Given the current situation in the world markets, further development of the Trans-Caspian route is of particular importance. We have a mutual understanding with partner countries on this issue,” Tokayev said.
The Head of State highlighted the importance of developing special economic zones. Their potential is very high. In particular, the Aktau Seaport Special Economic Zone is among the top three in the country in terms of investment, the volume of products manufactured and taxes paid. President Tokayev set the task of providing the undeveloped land in special economic zones with infrastructure facilities and instructed the government to extend the period of their operation. He noted that the project on creation of the green hydrogen production centre is a successful example of investment cooperation of Kazakhstan with foreign partners.
