Astana hosts the 21st International
Zhautykov Olympiad for the first time, aiming to identify the best talents in
mathematics, physics, and computer science. The competition consists of two
rounds – theoretical and practical – featuring tasks developed by an
international jury. Approximately 700 students from 15 countries, including
Kazakhstan, Central Asia, the Commonwealth of Independent States, Türkiye,
Georgia, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, and Mongolia, are participating in the
competition. Teams were selected based on national subject Olympiads. Organizers
highlight the Olympiad’s role in popularizing physical and mathematical
sciences, fostering international cooperation, and facilitating the exchange of
educational experiences.
«I am participating in the international
Olympiad for the first time. The competition is held at the highest level. We
defend the honor of not only our region, but also the whole of Kazakhstan. The
competition is very high,» said Olympiad participant Samal Kuanbai.
«I am participating for the third time. The
first time I returned with nothing. Last year I earned silver and this year, I
hope for better results. In general, the tasks were very interesting. I cannot
say much about their difficulty, but I am hopeful for a positive outcome,»
shared another Olympiad participant Ilyas Kazymbek.
