President Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev spoke today at a meeting of the National Council for Science and
Technology, stressing their
priority and strategic importance. He noted that the era of innovation and high
technology has already arrived, and countries, including those in Central Asia,
are competing for advanced solutions. The President called for fully
harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence. In recent years, Kazakhstan has
prioritized the development of science. Since 2020, investment in education and
science has increased fivefold, the number of research universities has grown,
and ties with industry have strengthened.
«To date, around 300 commercial projects
have been launched, forming the «University–Research–Innovation–Commerce» chain. To give this
process a powerful impetus, its implementation should be completed as soon as
possible. Partnerships have been established with 40 prestigious global
universities. Today, 33 branches of foreign universities are operating in our country.
Technology parks and engineering centers are being created. The authority of
the National Academy of Sciences has significantly strengthened. Scientific councils
have begun their work in all regions. Particular attention is being paid to
protecting the interests of scientists. A new law on science and technology policy has been adopted,
and a new legal model for science governance has been developed,» Tokayev said.
