Investment in Kazakhstan’s education and science quintupled in the past five years

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke today at a meeting of the National Council for Science and Technology, stressing their priority and strategic importance. He noted that the era of innovation and high technology has already arrived, and countries, including those in Central Asia, are competing for advanced solutions. The President called for fully harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence. In recent years, Kazakhstan has prioritized the development of science. Since 2020, investment in education and science has increased fivefold, the number of research universities has grown, and ties with industry have strengthened.

«To date, around 300 commercial projects have been launched, forming the «University–Research–Innovation–Commerce» chain. To give this process a powerful impetus, its implementation should be completed as soon as possible. Partnerships have been established with 40 prestigious global universities. Today, 33 branches of foreign universities are operating in our country. Technology parks and engineering centers are being created. The authority of the National Academy of Sciences has significantly strengthened. Scientific councils have begun their work in all regions. Particular attention is being paid to protecting the interests of scientists. A new law on science and technology policy has been adopted, and a new legal model for science governance has been developed Tokayev said.
