Astana hosted the international championship ‘Robotek
Grand Tournament’. Now a regular event, this robotics championship has been
held in Kazakhstan for the fourth consecutive year and for the second time at
the international level. In addition to teams from Tajikistan, the Kyrgyz
Republic, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan, the tournament also welcomed school
students from the U.S., Bulgaria, and Moldova. Over 300 participants aged 9 to
17 competed in seven categories, showcasing their skills in robot design,
programming, engineering, innovation, and IT solutions.
«This year, we won a trophy for first place in
the ‘Flag Delivery’ category, as well as the ‘Best International Team’ award.
The highest-scoring team was from Uzbekistan. I was also awarded for my
contribution to the development of robotics, particularly the Robotek Grand
Tournament. Another one of our teams secured second place in the ‘Sorting
Robot’ category. Year after year, our results improve, and the tournament
itself is gaining momentum,» said Eldar Appazov, Head of the robotics team,
Uzbekistan.
Winners and prize-winners of the tournament in
each category received certificates and valuable gifts. A few lucky
participants were awarded grants from the Kazakh-British Technical University
and the Almaty University of Energy and Communications. The championship aims
to identify and support talented youth in the fields of robotics, engineering,
intellectual sciences, and programming.
«Next year, we plan to involve more than 20–30
participating countries in this event and to hold qualifying rounds in neighboring
countries as well as in other foreign states. The goal is to gain experience
each year, make the tasks more challenging with every competition, and attract
more young people to the field of robotics,» noted Olzhas Aitzhanov, Head of
the Sports Department, Robotek School of Robotics.
