The best school students in the field of artificial intelligence have been identified in Kazakhstan. The FAIO, the second International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence, took place in Almaty. More than 400 teams from nine countries participated in the qualifying stage. The final brought together 200 top participants representing 51 teams from seven countries. The participants solved practical tasks related to machine learning algorithms. Each team had to implement its own ideas within a short time. The jury evaluated logic, creativity, and teamwork skills.
«The tasks varied widely: some involved text, others images, and some artificial intelligence,» shared Abu Kanatbek, student of the National School of Physics and Math in Almaty.
«The tasks were designed by experts in the field of artificial intelligence and included real-life cases similar to those tackled by professionals in the IT industry. These developers work for major international and Kazakh companies. Our main goal is to inspire the younger generation’s interest in innovative technologies,» said jury member Adilkhan Toktaganov.
Based on the results of the major competition, the team
from Russia took first place, while Kazakh school students ranked fourth and
fifth. The Olympiad’s prize fund amounted to five million tenge.
