The first Franco-Kazakh adventure festival ‘Under the Skies
of Tengri’ took place near the capital, in the town of Kosshy. Mountaineers,
geographers, filmmakers, and other enthusiasts who have conquered some of the
world’s highest peaks gathered for the event. Participants shared unique expedition
stories, presented eco-initiatives, and discussed prospects for international
scientific cooperation. The highlight of the festival was the screening of
documentaries by Kazakh and French directors, showcasing the most memorable
routes and discoveries made by travelers.
«This is the first
time but I am very excited and I am staying here only for three days. You have
beautiful mountains also in Kazakhstan. You have such a huge country, so it
will be difficult for me to visit the whole country but I will come back. I was
invited by the French Embassy to present my film called ‘Everest, the Mother
Goddess’, this is about my ascent of Everest,» said mountaineer from France
Orianne Aymard.
«There is already a large audience and growing interest.
Since the first edition of the festival was a success, we are planning a second
one - either in France with Kazakhstan’s participation, or in Kazakhstan, possibly
in another part of the country, such as Almaty or the Mangystau region, which
is known for its stunning landscapes,» noted French Ambassador to Kazakhstan
Sylvain Guiaugué.
