The 100th anniversary of the birth of Aliya Moldagulova is
being commemorated in Russia. Her memory was honored in Moscow ahead of the
80th anniversary of Victory. Flowers were laid at the monument to the legendary
sniper. The obelisk stands on the grounds of a school named after the Hero of
the Soviet Union. A museum has been operating there for over 12 years, it
houses photographs, archival materials, and books about Aliya Moldagulova’s
life. The collection also includes materials about Kazakhstan. The school
regularly hosts conferences and exhibitions dedicated to the sniper’s heroic
deeds.
«We’ve heard a lot about Aliya Moldagulova. I believe
today’s youth should know their heroes and honor their memory,» noted school
student from Russia Daniil Novikov.
«The fact that we live in peace today is the merit of our
heroes, fathers and grandfathers. We must not forget them. We have an
obligation to pass on their memory to future generations,» said writer
Baktygali Aizhigitov.
