Portraits of veterans, paintings, and war-themed diptychs - an
art exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory is
currently on display at the Military History Museum in Astana. Renowned Kazakh
artists Amandos Akanayev, Maksat Kantarbayev, Nelly Bube, and Aigul Sagitova
presented their works. According to the artists, the idea behind the event is
to tell the story of the war, honor the heroic deeds of their fathers and
grandfathers, convey their thoughts and emotions through art, and show how
Victory was achieved.
«The goal of this event is to show the younger generation the
price that was paid for the peaceful life we enjoy today. Over 1.2 million
Kazakhs were drafted during the war, and more than half of them never returned.
This exhibition is an opportunity to preserve the memory of those who gave
their lives and those who performed heroic deeds in the fight for a peaceful
sky,» said Maksat Kantarbayev, a member of the Kazakh Union of Artists.
