The international forum Digital Qazaqstan was held for the first time in Shymkent, one of the country’s key industrial and economic centers. More than 3,000 delegates took part, including heads of government from the EAEU countries, representatives of the IT industry, international companies, investors, and experts. Major companies showcased cutting-edge developments shaping the country’s technological future - from artificial intelligence to smart cities and next-generation energy systems. For example, one project is aimed at helping mining enterprises digitize their production processes. It can monitor the operation of equipment and personnel, control fuel consumption, reduce downtime, and overall enhance safety at facilities.
«It operates at more than 30 mines across Kazakhstan, as well as in neighboring countries. Initiatives such as Digital Bridge and Digital Qazaqstan enable us to operate confidently in the domestic market, develop our products, and expand internationally,» said Alexandr Podvalov, founder of the industrial digitalization company.
As part of Digital Qazaqstan, the largest hackathon Decentrathon 5.0 was launched, bringing together participants from 20 cities across Kazakhstan. Over the course of 10 days, they will work on real-world cases for the IT sector. In addition, a competitive programming championship and a startup battle were held. At the same time, the best AI projects were recognized with a separate industry award. In this way, the forum showcased how experience, ambition, and emerging technological talent come together under one roof. Notably, Digital Qazaqstan is set to become an annual event in the digital world.
«The alley showcases over 20 projects, while the IT stands feature more than 30 initiatives. Over 10 residents of Shymkent Hub are expected from local, regional projects. As an official branch of Astana Hub, we are engaged in developing Shymkent’s IT ecosystem,» said Timur Kozykeyev, head of Shymkent Hub.
«The forum’s
special status is reflected in its broad international representation.
Delegates from 14 countries, along with key international organizations,
including the Organization of Turkic States, the International
Telecommunication Union, and the Eurasian Development Bank, are taking part in
Shymkent. The main agenda is to showcase our experience across key areas,» said Kazakh Vice Minister of AI
and Digital Development Dmitriy Mun.
