Turkmenistan develops transport and transit potential

The opening of the Mary - Turkmenabat section took place in Turkmenistan. It is part of the high-speed Ashgabat – Turkmenabat highway, which will become part of the East–West and North–South transit corridors. The 600-kilometer road connects the capital with the eastern region of the country. The six-lane highway meets international standards of quality and safety and is monitored by a smart system - real-time video surveillance collects and transmits data to the road monitoring service. According to experts, the highway will significantly reduce travel time for both passengers and freight carriers. Moreover, the opening of the road coincided with the start of the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport. For Turkmenistan, which initiated this document, the launch of such infrastructure enables it to integrate into the global logistics system.

«This section of the road is a complex engineering and technical facility that fully meets international standards. Along the route, 11 bridges have been constructed, and all the necessary infrastructure has been created for the comfort of drivers and passengers,» noted Serdar Agamyradov, specialist at the Turkmenavtoyollary State Concern.

«The company participating in this project supplying the toll collection system and video surveillance as well. We are here today to provide certificates of different ISO certifications, including system security management and toll systems security certification,» said Felipe Duque, Commercial Director, GEA.
