President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev presented the state flag to the flag bearers for the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, emphasizing the special significance of the upcoming quadrennial competitions to be held in Italy. Around 40 Kazakh athletes will represent the country at the Winter Olympics, competing in 10 sports. The President noted that the athletes’ path to the Games had not been easy, highlighting their strong performances on the international stage, where they won 17 gold, 31 silver, and 21 bronze medals. The Head of State also emphasized that Kazakhstan has secured 10 qualification slots for the Paralympic Games, though this number may increase. Overall, the national team has been thoroughly preparing for the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will bring together the world’s top athletes.
