Kazakhstan will establish a Creative Industry Development
Fund, bringing together creative and educational organizations. As announced
during a government meeting, the fund’s mission is to attract investment,
finance projects, and promote the export of the country’s creative products. Additionally,
creative hubs will be established across the regions, and a concept for the development
of creative industries for 2026-2030 will be developed. Notably, Kazakhstan’s creative
economy has been experiencing growth, with its volume increasing more than
threefold since 2019. Currently, the industry has 45,500 registered
representatives, who are provided a special tax regime.
«Within a year of its implementation, the number of creative
industry entities grew by 15%, along with a 15% increase in employment in the
sector. Additionally, according to the Global Innovation Index 2024, Kazakhstan
has risen from 93rd to 65th place in the ‘Creative Goods and Services’ category,»
noted Kazakh Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva.
Kazakhstan has also improved its ranking in the ‘National
Feature Films’ category, moving up from 60th to 31st place. Last year, domestic
film production increased by 58%, and this upward trend is expected to
continue. The country is currently implementing several international film
projects, including collaborations with renowned actor Jackie Chan and
Oscar-winning producers. Additionally, a unique project utilizing artificial
intelligence technologies for content creation has been launched in partnership
with filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov.
«Among the top 10 highest-grossing movies, every second film
was domestically produced. The box office revenues from foreign and domestic
films were nearly equal, indicating a growing interest in national content. For
this reason, during the National Kurultai meeting, the Head of State emphasized
the importance of paying special attention to the films and TV series,» said Kazakh
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
