COVID-19 infection rate declines by 35% in Kazakhstan

Over the past two weeks, the COVID-19 infection rate in Kazakhstan has declined by 35 percent. Overall, while earlier an average of over 31,000 people were infected with a dangerous virus in seven days, now this figure is fixed at 25,000. Kazakh Health Minister Alexey Tsoy announced such data today at the Government’s meeting. WHO also estimates that the pandemic in the country is under control, he stressed. In addition, within less than 14 days, five regions of the country have moved from the ‘red’ to ‘yellow’ zone for COVID-19 spread. These are East Kazakhstan, North Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan, Zhambyl and Kyzylorda regions. This indicates that the country’s epidemiological situation is obviously on the way to improvement.

“The main task now is to achieve a stable decrease in the infection rate in the regions of the country that are in the ‘red’ zone. To do that, we need to keep the epidemiological situation under constant control, especially in the cities of Almaty, Shymkent and Nur-Sultan, as well as Karagandy and Akmola regions. In view of the start of the new academic year, it is necessary to keep the observance of sanitary rules in educational organizations under special control,” said Askar Mamin, Kazakh Prime Minister.
