Covid-19 cases are forecasted to reach a peak in Kazakhstan at the end of March of this year. Under an optimistic scenario, the registration of new positive cases of infection can reach 3,000 per day. Maximum hospital bed occupancy can reach 24,000. However, no strict COVID-19 restrictions are planned to be imposed in this case, Kazakh Health Minister Alexey Tsoy announced at a government meeting.
Under a pessimistic scenario, the number of daily cases of coronavirus in Kazakhstan can reach 9,000. In this case, tough restrictive measures will be probably introduced. Alexey Tsoy noted that vaccination campaign can have positive effect on the situation with the COVID-19. Its first stage in the country starts in the first half of the year, covering two million people. Another three to four million citizens are planned to be vaccinated in the second half of the year. Health workers, teachers and law enforcement officers will primarily receive the vaccine.
