Postage stamps issued to commemorate the birth anniversary of the great Kazakh poet Abai Kunanbaiuly were presented in Baku. They were created at the initiative of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation in Spain. The event is aimed at introducing a wide international audience to the work of an outstanding philosopher and at popularizing Kazakh literature and culture in the world. It ended with a concert dedicated to Abai’s work.
“In all Turkic-speaking countries, Abai’s work is highly respected. Because we have the same roots, we share a common history. On the instructions of the President of Azerbaijan, one of the streets of the capital was named after Abai Kunanbaiuly. In addition, there is a cultural center named after Abai in Baku. Monuments to this great poet have been erected in all fraternal countries,” said Gunay Efendiyeva, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation.
