Astana hosts National Animation Film Week

From digitized classics to the latest feature-length and short films, the evolution of Kazakh animation can be explored in Astana. To mark Republic Day and International Animation Day, the capital is hosting the National Animation Film Week. Residents and visitors can enjoy screenings of the finest locally produced animated movies. The program features 12 works created over the years by Kazakh filmmakers — from acclaimed masters of animation to talented young directors. According to the organizers, the event is not only a creative retrospective but also an important step toward promoting national animation, which continues to gain international recognition. Over the past five years, 47 animated projects have been produced in Kazakhstan, many of which have received awards at prestigious festivals.

«The aim of this event is to showcase the richness and contemporary development of Kazakh animation to our audience. When selecting the projects, we focused on the level of interest each film might generate among viewers. We also made sure to include works by renowned creators, such as Amen Khaidarov. In addition, the program includes several feature-length animated films,» noted Ainur Issayeva, editor at the Kazakh Animation Creative Association.
