Astana hosts lecture-concert honoring Kazakh music heritage researcher

Musical heritage of the Kazakh people in the research of Aleksandr Zatayevich — this topic was discussed at a lecture-concert held at the National Museum in Astana. Experts highlighted that the composer and ethnographer of Polish origin made a tremendous contribution to preserving the traditional musical heritage of the nomads. His unique research and recordings were published in the collections titled «1,000 songs of the Kazakh people» and «500 Kazakh kuis and songs.» These works played a crucial role in passing down the rich musical legacy of the Great Steppe to future generations. Zatayevich’s contributions laid the foundation for many modern compositions. His work has undoubtedly enriched Kazakh culture and provided a strong impetus to the popularization of national art.

«The works of Aleksandr Zatayevich are not just research but a true bridge between the Polish and Kazakh peoples,» said Michał Łabenda, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Poland in Kazakhstan.

«The works of Aleksandr Zatayevich continue to be expanded and enriched by scholars and performers. Overall, the research of the composer and ethnographer remains highly valuable both for educational institutions and the younger generation, as well as for our singers,» said Telman Nurkenov, senior lecturer at the Kazakh National University of Arts.
