Personal belongings of World War II heroes were showcased at
a traveling exhibition in Astana, where schoolchildren from the capital also
explored other historical exhibits, including archival documents and
photographs of legendary Kazakh figures such as Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, Talgat
Bigeldinov, Sagadat Nurmagambetov, Tleugali Abdybekov, and Khiuaz Dospanova.
Military medallions and shell fragments found at battle sites particularly
captivated the younger generation.
«The purpose of our exhibition is to honor the WWII heroes
from Kazakhstan. It serves as a
military-patriotic education for the youth, highlighting the heroism of our
soldiers. This traveling exhibition presents only a small portion of our larger
collection, and we hope it will spark interest in our history among
schoolchildren,» said Daulet Kadyrov, Head of the Kazakh Military-Historical
Museum.
The exhibition «Kazakhstan during World War II» is the
eighth of its kind in schools across Astana. It has been organized with the
support of the Military-Historical Museum of the Kazakh Armed Forces. Ahead, 30
more such events are planned. As the organizers note, each one generates
significant interest among the young residents of the capital.
«The exhibition left a strong impression on me. I was
particularly impressed by how it highlights the feats of our veterans and
ancestors who fought on the frontlines. I learned a lot about World War II.»
«What impressed me most at the exhibition were the exhibits
themselves, as they were used in real life by our heroes. It was very
interesting to learn more about them.»
