The International Organization of Turkic Culture, or TÜRKSOY,
has declared 2025 as the Year of Commemoration for renowned Kazakh composer
Nurgisa Tlendiyev, as announced by the organization’s Secretary General, Sultan
Raev. In celebration of the composer’s 100th anniversary, cultural events will
take place not only in Kazakhstan but also across all Turkic-speaking
countries. The program includes special concerts, creative evenings, and
scientific conferences. Tlendiyev’s anniversary will also be commemorated at
the UNESCO level, as it has been added to the organization’s commemorative
calendar. The composer, conductor, and kuishi’s (performer of kuis) works are
an integral part of Kazakhstan’s musical heritage. A unique exhibition of his
personal items and archival photographs is currently on display at the Museum of
Folk Musical Instruments in Almaty. Meanwhile, in Astana, the Qazaqconcert
stage hosted a performance of his timeless compositions, which are part of
Kazakhstan’s golden musical legacy.
«50% of the success of the movie «Kyz Zhibek» relied on its music.
Nurgisa Tlendiyev composed it while watching the footage, sitting in the
theater with his dombyra in front of the screen. He carefully selected the
tempo and rhythm, filling each note with life. For Kyz Zhibek, he did
tremendous work. Nurgisa had his own temperament, incredible energy, and a
powerful character. After all, talented people always have strong character.
There was no one like him, and there is no comparison—Nurgisa is an
unattainable peak. His music is eternal,» said People’s Artist of Kazakhstan
Asanali Ashimov.
