Exchange of news content, joint trainings
and seminars, development of new formats of multimedia interaction, as well as
promotion of information at national and international levels - these are the
areas of cooperation that the Kazakh President’s TV and Radio Complex and the
Chinese News Agency Xinhua are ready to strengthen. Their leaders signed a
memorandum of cooperation during a bilateral meeting ahead of the China–Central
Asia News Agencies Forum in Astana. The heads of the media holdings of both
countries discussed issues related to strengthening a comprehensive strategic
partnership, amplifying the voices of Central Asian and Chinese media in the
international information space. At the forum, Director of the Kazakh President’s
TV and Radio Complex Raushan Kazhibayeva emphasized the relevance and
importance of creating a common informational and cultural space.
«The Kazakh people say: «A close neighbor
is better than a distant relative.» We are not just neighbors – we are united
by a cultural community, traditions, and aspiration for peace and mutual
understanding. Today we can confidently say that Central Asia and China are
ready to take a step together towards a common future and prosperity of our
countries. We will gradually implement joint projects,» she said.
In this context, Kazinform is expanding its
presence on Chinese social media platforms. The agency’s official accounts on
Weibo and WeChat enable the prompt and effective coverage of Kazakh news. President
of Xinhua News Agency Fu Hua noted that a Partnership Program for cooperation
between media outlets and think tanks of the Global South has been developed to
foster collaboration.
«Let us use this forum as an opportunity to
discuss cooperation – jointly planning development, pooling our efforts, and
letting the world hear and clearly understand the voice of news agencies from
China and Central Asia. This will allow the news agencies to contribute to
building a community with a shared future. We look forward to the active
participation of media, think tanks, government agencies, companies, and
universities from the Global South, including Central Asia, to advance practical
cooperation in various areas,» he noted.
As part of the dialogue platform, the heads
of Central Asian news agencies discussed the development of bilateral and
multilateral humanitarian ties, the promotion of joint projects, content
exchange, and personnel training. They also considered the joint use of
resources in promotion of the Belt and Road Initiative.
