The Karagandy Academic
Musical Comedy Theater recently captivated art lovers in the capital with a
series of performances at the Astana Opera stage. Over three days, the creative
team showcased six productions, beginning with «The Riviera Girl» operetta, a
tale of love and intrigue set in Budapest’s musical hall scene. The audience
was also treated to the operetta «A Night in Venice» and the musical comedy «The
Tricks of Khanuma,» all accompanied by a symphony orchestra.
The children’s program
also included delightful performances. Among them are the musical fairy tale «Cinderella,»
the cheerful musical «Dunno,» and the educational show «The Princess and the
Pea». As the only theater in Kazakhstan that develops both operetta and musical
genres, the Karagandy Academic Musical Comedy Theater, with a half-century
history, has an extensive repertoire. According to the theater’s head, more
productions will be presented during the next tour.
